9 Things 2016 has taught me to be grateful for…

As 2016 comes to an end, I find myself typing away behind my computer screen instead of preparing for my New Years get together with friends.

Oh 2016 you have been full of ups and downs and I’m not even going to get started on politics; America is not the only disappoint-er cough cough Britex, Spain and many more countries are on the list…we haven’t forgotten about you. And let’s not forget about the despair caused, even though these are things that happened and are out of our immediate control. I’m still praying for those of Orlando and Syria.

Sticking to a positive note, there are tons of good moments that have happened in 2016. I personally have encountered many new challenges outside of my comfort zone’s like finally creating SincerelyDoris and moving from the big city life in Madrid to the smaller town of Pamplona. It is through those seemingly small challenges and changes where I have found my own personal strength

Even though 2016 was not what I expected, there were a ton of things that I had been taking for granted. Thus, the reason why I’d like to take a moment to really reflect on what I’m grateful for this 2016.

1. Waking up today

Every day and every morning is a fresh and new start to create something new. Never take for granted your life or the change you could make in this world. Period.

2. My Man

He is my biggest cheerleader. He supports my dreams and assures me that I will reach success no matter what I do. Plus, we love each other in ways that I never knew someone could love another person. And I am forever grateful to have him in my life.

3. My Blog

This 2016, I launched my blog which marks a special place in my heart. But not only that, I’m finally finding my voice…A voice I never knew was there which is very exciting. However, makes me feel very vulnerable. But I wouldn’t take back a thing as I share this journey with you guys.

4. Challenges

This year I have completely jumped out of my comfort zone and taken so many risks in my personal and professional life that I would have never dreamed and to my surprise many of these risks have turned into the best moments in my life to date.

5. Kindness from Strangers

Through this blog and working online I have met so many new people and new stories. People willing to lend a helping hand and teach me new things and traits. Never take for granted the kindness of a stranger. After saying this, try your best to be a better person for those who least expect it.

6. The Internet

Living abroad I am so far away from many of the people I love, have known all my life and care for. But with the help of the internet and social media I am able to connect to all of my loved ones. Even if that means scrolling down my eternal Facebook Feed just to share special moments with them. Plus this technological world helps me to contribute my little grain of sand to a new community of friends through my blog. I love my tribe!

7. Family & Friends

Do I really need to say anything else. These are the people who have supported me all my life through thick and thin. They always lent me a shoulder to cry on, words of inspirations and motivate me to believe I can do anything I put my mind to. When I feel like all hope is lost they are the ones to pick me up! “Love you” is an understatement and am more than grateful to have each one of you in my life.

8. Health

Something so fragile yet so important to us all. We all take for granted the true gift of health, as many people struggle from terminal illnesses. Yet we find ourselves whining and crying about the most insignificant details. Our physical shapes and lack of “superficial” health problems. This year, I am happy to say that I have stuck to all my fitness and food commitments, but there is so much MORE I can be doing. So here’s to less complaining and more execution.

9. Learning from my Mistakes

Through our mistakes we learn how to better execute our plans, to not suffer the same end results. Personally, learning not to make the same mistakes means we have potential to grow and succeed in new areas of life. I am so thankful that we grow smarter and wiser with age.

Okay, I don’t want to sound like a complete softie but I want to take a moment to really appreciate you all…My readers; we are small and few but thanks to you all 2016 has been one of the best years of my life. As I continue to grow and expand through you guys.

Now it’s your turn what are you most grateful for this 2016? What was the best highlight of your 2016? We live and we learn people… So without further ado Happy 2017! Let the new Chapter in our lives begin.

  1. Happy New Year! This year I am thankful that I embraced new opportunities fearlessly. One of them being creating a blog a few months ago, which has proved to be one of the best decisions yet. I’m ready to take it to new places and discover more things about myself in 2017. -> The Mindful Rise (www.themindfulrise.com)
